Fasching Festivities at Fischer's

We’re delving into the Fasching festivities at Fischer’s with a weeklong celebration of everyone’s favourite, classic but versatile crêpes. Whether you choose yours to be savoury or sweet, the flavour combinations are endless.
Shrove Tuesday in Austria
Faschingsdienstag (Shrove Tuesday, or Pancake Day), is widely celebrated in Austria, and unlike the UK, is celebrated as part of an Austrian carnival (Fasching) which lasts from November to February.
This nationwide celebration, like many other countries, celebrates the beginning of lent, where people choose to give up rich delicacies such as chocolate, butter and sweet treats for 40 days. Pancakes and crêpes are used as a symbol of the commencement of this celebration as they include a lot of the indulgent ingredients that people choose to give up (eggs and butter).
In true Karneval (carnival) spirit, Austrians celebrate with parades, wearing bright and colourful costumes and indulging on as many typical Austrian festive foods, including Viennese pancakes, as they can before the Lenten season begins the following day.
